David Tennant Praises 'Welcoming' Vancouver Island

David Tennant, who is currently filming Broadchurch remake Gracepoint on Vancouver Island, has praised the British Columbian region that has been his home for the last four months in comments to the local paper. Just before flying over to New York to attend the Fox TV Upfront presentation of Gracepoint, he told Victoria-based publication Times Colonist, "I had never been to Canada before, and if the rest of Canada is as welcoming as Victoria and Vancouver Island, it’s clearly the place to be."

He even made light of the infamous propensity of the area to rain. "I've felt a little more at home than some of our Californians working on the show," he said.

Gracepoint, described by Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly as something 'really special', will première on Thursday nights at 9pm ET/PT on Fox as part of the Fall 2014 season. The ten part series is based on the original UK drama Broadchurch, centring on the investigation into the murder of a young boy in a remote Californian town led by two mismatched police detectives (David Tennant and Anna Gunn). However, audiences are promised some divergence from the original and a different ending.

David will wrap on Gracepoint at the end of May and will return to the UK to begin shooting the second series of Broadchurch
